Summer’s Distastefulness
I know many people who love and live for the summer. I, however, do not. Let me explain why I do not like summer. One big reason is the bites on my body from an unknown source. They could be spider or mosquito bites, and they are itchy and ugly. My first reaction is to scratch until the second coming or scream. They are raised and just plain unsightly. I have threatened myself to go and find a wire brush to end the madness. Another reason is the heat and humidity. Together, they are a nuisance and unbearable. When trying to garden or have a nice dinner, I have to mop up the sweat and change my clothes. The shirts stick to my skin, and I threaten to cut the fabric off. Then later, I try to sleep under a fan and one in the window. You lie there waiting to doze into a restful sleep but lie there naked and awake, stuck to the sheets. Need I say more? The last reason is mowing and weeding in the yard. I do not mind mowing or weeding, but let’s get serious. It seems like two endless tasks that take hours out of the day to repeat the same task every week.
There is hope on the horizon as the weather seems to be heading toward fall. Maybe it will be early autumn, and all of the complaints will go away, and I will again be jubilant to be outside.
